A Warm, Melancholic Journey Through Memory
MavAngelo’s new single, “FadingSkies,” lands like a gentle tide of nostalgia. From the first notes, the track wraps you in warmth while hinting at bittersweet undertones. It channels that holiday-season, slightly bummed-out mood and taps into childhood moments we wish we could relive. “The connection is really unique and special,” he said.
What really separates “FadingSkies” is that incredible fusion of sounds. The warm glow of Korean and Japanese city pop influences brings comfort, while the John Mayer– and Hendrix-esque guitar riffs introduce a subtle coolness. MavAngelo’s voice is raw, emotional, and strikingly expressive — reminiscent of Joji, yet still uniquely his own. You can truly feel the passion and heart he poured into the track, all crafted from his small bedroom studio.
Listening to “FadingSkies” was such a privilege for me. It’s more than a song — it’s an emotional trip for anyone who has ever longed for the little joys in life that time can’t bring back. MavAngelo builds an atmospheric soundscape filled with heart, and I honestly can’t wait to see where his artistry takes him next. You’ll definitely want to add this tune to your playlist!

Who influenced this release?
Influenced mainly by the nostalgic take of warm korean / japanese city pop combined with my rock guitar influences , John Mayer, Hendrix and John Petrucci. The fragility and authenticity of Joji’s voice has always been my model in recording vocals
What’s the story behind this release?
Holiday season is coming, now that i am an adult, a sudden glimpse of me during the holidays always make me feel melancholic and dramatic. That is the feeling of being an innocent child again. Sure, the reason of most of my songs are from past trauma, but Fading skies is different. This talks about missing all the good that happened during those innocent times. Running free, just chillin in the playground watching the sky, playing with friends and family until we just sit down and look at the sun set as the sky slowly fades into darkness. Every holiday, this is what I feel, I remember, and I wish I could visit even just a minute in my life. The sad thing is that time never moves backward. Only forward
Tell us what makes this release stand out and why it’s significant?
This stands out as the feeling of missing something that cannot be brought back is universal. You can always feel how great it is in your heart but those days will never come back. Proudly produced in a personal studio bedroom with the ordinary indie musician tools but crafted everything with passion that speaks for the track’s authenticity, this is MavAngelo’s signature.
Where did the recording take place?
Ordinary small studio sized bedroom
What was unique about the recording process?
The song writing was actually done while I was trail walking and saw a hanging cliff just before sunset. I sat on that cliff for a while and remembered that melancholic feeling. I used to see that same sunset when I was playing on swing 20 years ago and now still the same sunset but different place, over a cliff as the same sky fades into the dark
Do you have any recent or upcoming performances to highlight?
I am releasing singles every 3 weeks. I am also looking for collaborators that can synergize with the rock sadboy energy
Could you share a memorable quote about this release or your journey as an artist?
The part of the lyrics that stings me “I’d trade the years I’ve grown to walk that world alone”. I was pleading on that line and all i can do is plead as i know I will never be able to watch the fading sky as a 6 year old innocent kid
Is there anything additional that would be valuable for curators to know?
I am looking to collaborate with different artists
